Senator Carper Statement on Orlando Shooting

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.), top Democrat on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, released the following statement in response to the attack that took place at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, killing 50 people. The mass shooting is being investigated as an act of terrorism.

“My thoughts and prayers are with all those who have lost loved ones in this senseless act of violence in Orlando. This horrific attack reminds us that we must remain vigilant here at home against threats of terrorism. It is critical that federal, state and local law enforcement officials work together to get to the bottom of this attack. I will continue to monitor this situation closely as we learn more information. For now, I am grateful for the first responders who quickly jumped to action to help and save others last night, and will continue to grieve for all the victims of this heinous attack."
