WASHINGTON - Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, had this to say following President Trump’s nomination of Henry Kerner to be Special Counsel at the Office of Special Counsel:
“I applaud President Trump’s nomination of Henry Kerner to be the Special Counsel at the Office of Special Counsel," said Chairman Johnson. "Mr. Kerner brings a valuable perspective as a former prosecutor, advocate of government transparency and accountability, and as the minority staff director for the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. I look forward to promptly considering Mr. Kerner's nomination and partnering with the Office of Special Counsel to protect and empower federal whistleblowers."
Created by Congress in 1978, the Office of Special Counsel is an independent agency that receives and investigates whistleblower disclosures of waste, fraud, and abuse in the executive branch. The office also investigates allegations of prohibited personnel practices, including whistleblower retaliation, and seeks corrective action when appropriate.
