In a business meeting earlier today, the House Agriculture Committee approved four bills regarding conservation and forest lands for floor consideration. H.R. 511, H.R. 940, H.R. 1002, and H.R. 3175, were all approved by the Committee by voice vote and were ordered to be reported favorably to the House floor.
H.R. 511
This bill would authorize the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to terminate certain easements held by the National Resource Conservation Service on land owned by the Village of Caseyville, Illinois, allowing the land to be used by the village for flood protection.
H.R. 940
This bill would provide for the conveyance of 50 acres of National Forest System land in the State of Louisiana. It would give the U.S. Forest Service the authority to sell certain residential parcels of land in the Kisatchie National Forest in Winn Parish, Louisiana.
H.R. 1002
This bill would authorize the purchase of privately held land by the U.S. Forest Service and modify the boundaries of the Pigsah National Forest in McDowell Country, North Carolina. The modification would allow for better recreational access to Catawba Falls, a popular tourist site in the region.
H.R. 3175
This bill would facilitate the sale of land at the USDA Agricultural Research Service’s Subtropical Horticulture Research Station to Miami-Dade County. The sale would be made to the County for the purpose of building a fire station in the village of Palmetto Bay, Florida.
