Public notices: Environmental Protection Agency publishes 45 in May

There were 45 notices published by the Environmental Protection Agency in May, according to the Federal Register.

The most recent notice, Information Collection Request Submitted to OMB for Review and Approval; Comment Request; Emission Guidelines and Compliance Times for Small Municipal Waste Combustion Units Constructed on or Before August 30, 1999 (Renewal), was submitted on May 27, 2022.

The Environmental Protection Agency published 70 the month before, marking a 35.7 percent decrease for the current month.

More than half of the Agency's employees are engineers, scientists and protection specialists. The Climate Reality Project, a global climate activist organization, accused Agency leadership in the last five years of undermining its main mission.

Notices are required documents detailing rules and regulations being proposed by each federal department. This allows the public to see what issues legislators and federal departments are focusing on.

Any person or organization can comment on the proposed rules. Departments and agencies must then address “significant issues raised in comments and discuss any changes made,” the Federal Register says.
