President Biden discussed the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework during his visit to Asia. The visit occurred last month and was spread over multiple countries.

During these visits, he discussed the new US Into-Pacific Economic Framework, which strategically positions the US in various economic capacities.

“Biden's visits to South Korea and Japan demonstrated the importance of these allies in the implementation of U.S. strategy in the Indo-Pacific region" Oskar Pietrewicz, a Senior Analyst for PSM Poland said in a post on his Twitter account on May 26.

According to the Brookings Institution, President Biden recently traveled to Asia to visit both Tokyo, Japan and Seoul, South Korea. His visit included bilateral strategy meetings and further engagement in the second Quad leaders’ meeting. President Biden’s trip and meetings will work to further his administration’s newly confirmed Indo-Pacific strategy.

The Wall Street Journal confirmed that, during his visit with Japan, President Biden said that the US would respond with military action if China were to attack Taiwan. According to the Wall Street Journal, on May 23rd, President Biden and 12 leaders of nations in the Indo-Pacific region asserted their support for a newly formed economic platform: the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework. This economic strategy, meant to combat the economic influence of the People’s Republic of China, affects issues ranging from supply chains, cybersecurity, and green energy.

Despite this, the agreement will not lower US tariffs or increase Asian access to US markets in a major way.
