In the interest of public safety, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will temporarily close a section of Bible Creek Access Road starting May 31. Bible Creek Access Road will be closed between Nestucca River Access Road and the Forest Service 1400 Road.
During the closure, which will last through October 1, BLM-contracted crews will replace failing culverts below the road. Functioning culverts allow creeks to flow under the road. The deteriorating culverts could block water passage and lead to a road washout.
“By replacing deteriorated culverts before they fail, we are preventing road washouts during heavy rain or storm events,” said Karen Schank, BLM Tillamook Field Manager. “This will help us avoid prolonged emergency road closures in the future.”
Bible Creek Access Road is part of the Nestucca National Back Country Byway. The byway is a loop between Beaver and Carlton that includes the Nestucca Access Road, Bible Creek Access Road, and Bald Mountain Road.
For the duration of the project, this portion of the Bible Creek Access Road will be closed to all traffic. Other portions of the byway will remain open.
Please follow safety and road closure signs and use the designated detour routes.
