U.S. Marshals Service Task Force Arrest Alabama Manin Tennessee Wanted for Multiple Sex Crimes

Jackson, TN - U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller announced the capture of James Dwight Mitchell, 39, of Decatur, Ala. The U.S. Marshals Service Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF) and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office arrested Mitchell today at a residence on Shirlee Drive in west Madison County, Tenn.

On June 15, 2022, the Decatur, Ala. Police Department issued warrants for Mitchell’s arrest for Sodomy First Degree, Sexual Abuse First Degree, Possession of Obscene Matter (3 counts), and Production of Obscene Matter (3 counts).

Following a coordinated investigation between the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Huntsville, Ala. and the Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force, Mitchell was found in Madison County and taken into custody without incident.

“Tracking down violent fugitives and sex offenders is a hallmark of the U.S. Marshals Service," said U.S. Marshal Miller. “We will continue to bring offenders to justice wherever they may hide."

The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force within Western Tennessee. The Western Tennessee Division of the Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and the Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
