U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced the launch of the U.S.-Singapore Women in Tech Partnership Program with Singapore’s Minister for Communications and Information Josephine Teo.

The program establishes a platform for new and experienced women tech leaders from the two nations to establish international contacts and networks, according to a June 27 news release.

“Helping women-owned companies grow and succeed is a passion I share with Minister Teo, and we look forward to helping these women entrepreneurs make big and bold business moves from both sides of our world,” Raimondo said in the release.

The program debuts as part of the 2022 SelectUSA Investment Summit in National Harbor, Md., the release said.

Teo said women can play a lead role in building vibrant and sustainable digital economies, according to the release. She said her passion matches Raimondo’s in working to strengthen collaboration between Singapore and the U.S. to support women as tech leaders and entrepreneurs.

“The launch of this partnership reflects our commitment to turn ideas into action that benefit women in tech,” Teo said in the release. “It will broaden their networks and create new opportunities for scaling their businesses internationally.”

Women tech entrepreneurs who participate in the program will have a unique forum to learn from each other and will gain an understanding of both nation’s markets. The program will enable them to collaborate on new ventures, Raimondo said, according to the release.
