BLM announces meeting of the Mojave-Southern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council

The Bureau of Land Management announced that the Mojave-Southern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council will host an in-person meeting with a virtual participation option on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the BLM Southern Nevada District Office, 4701 North Torrey Pines in Las Vegas.

The meeting agenda and virtual access information will be posted https://www.blm.gov/get-involved/resource-advisory-council/near-me/nevada at least two weeks prior to the meeting.  Agenda items include District Manager reports, a discussion on renewable energy applications and prioritization, a review of roles and responsibilities for new members and election of a Resource Advisory Council Chair, and a presentation on the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area Business Plan and associated amenity recreation fee proposal for the area as well as related recommendations to the BLM.

The meeting is open to the public and half hour public comment period will be held near the end of the meeting. The amount of time for individual oral comments may be limited depending on the number of people wishing to comment.  

Resource Advisory Councils are critical in assisting the BLM in continuing to be a good neighbor in communities served by the Bureau, providing advice and recommendations on issues including land use planning, fire management, off-highway vehicle use, recreation, oil and gas exploration, noxious weed management, grazing issues, and wild horse and burro herd management issues. This15-member group serves in an advisory capacity concerning issues relating to land use planning and the management of the public land resources located within the BLM’s Battle Mountain, Ely, and Southern Nevada Districts.
