FAA Proposes $55,000 Civil Penalty Against MayaAir

The following press release was published by the Federal Aviation Administration on July 22, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

SEATTLE - The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes a $55,000 civil penalty against MayaAir, LLC of Telluride, Colo., for allegedly conducting commercial operations with an unauthorized aircraft.

The FAA alleges that between July 28, 2014 and Aug. 3, 2014, MayaAir flew a Beechjet 400A on five flights when its operating specifications did not authorize the use of that aircraft for commercial operations. The FAA alleges that paying passengers were aboard each of the flights, which took place in Colorado, Ohio, New Hampshire, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

MayaAir has been in communication with the FAA about the case.
