On July 6, 2022, President Joe Biden announced his intention to nominate Henry V. Jardine as Ambassador to the Republic of Mauritius and the Republic of Seychelles. On July 11, 2022, the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee received the nomination.
Henry V. Jardine is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Class of Minister-Counselor. He currently serves as the Director of the State Department’s Office for Career Development and Assignments in Washington, D.C. Previously, Jardine was the Principal Deputy Director of the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations for the State Department and, before that, the Executive Director of the Bureau for Western Hemisphere Affairs. He also held leadership positions overseas as Management Counselor of the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, as Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Tirana, Albania, and as Consul General of the U.S. Consulate General in Kolkata, India. Jardine also served at the U.S. Consulate General in Chiang Mai, Thailand, the U.S. Embassy in Bridgetown, Barbados, and the U.S. Embassy, in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Before joining the State Department, Jardine served in the U.S. Army from 1989 – 1993. Jardine earned a B.S. Degree from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and an M.S. Degree from the National Defense University. His foreign languages include Bengali, Thai, Spanish, German, and Albanian.
