Boston - A West Springfield man was sentenced yesterday in federal court for possession of child pornography.
William Crites, 44, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Douglas P. Woodlock to 10 years in prison, to be followed by 15 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography charges on Aug. 6, 2012.
Had the case proceeded to trial, the Government’s evidence would have proven that between March 11, 2011 and May 3, 2011 Crites, who had been previously convicted of receipt and distribution of child pornography, possessed child pornography on a tablet computer he owned.
United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz; John Gibbons, United States Marshal; Hampden County District Attorney Mark G. Mastroianni; and Colonel Timothy P. Alben, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police made the announcement. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alex J. Grant of Ortiz’s Springfield Branch Unit.
