Mission Man Acquitted Of Aggravated Sexual Abuse And Sexual Abuse

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Mission, South Dakota, man was acquitted on Oct. 23, 2013, of Aggravated Sexual Abuse and Sexual Abuse as a result of a federal jury trial in Pierre, South Dakota.

Mart Kirkland, age 23, was indicted by a federal grand jury on March 13, 2013.

The charges relate to the alleged sexual abuse of a woman on Oct. 29, 2013, in Todd County.

The investigation was conducted by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The U.S. Attorney's Office prosecuted the case.
