Portland, Maine: United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced that
Kenneth Sales, 23, of Auburn, pled guilty today in U.S. District Court to possessing a firearm
after being convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
According to court records, on May 6, 2013, Auburn police officers investigating a report
of a possible stabbing went to a residence where they found the alleged victim sitting in a car
with Sales. As Sales got out of the car, officers saw a Hi-Point.45 caliber ACP pistol on the
driver’s seat where he had been sitting. Sales later admitted possessing the gun. Sales was
prohibited from possessing firearms at the time because he had been convicted of a misdemeanor
crime of domestic violence in a Vermont state court.
Sales faces up to 10 years imprisonment, a fine of up to $250,000, or both. He will be
sentenced after completion of a pre-sentence report by the United States Probation Office.
The investigation was conducted by the Auburn Police Department and the Bureau of
Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
