Washington Woman Pleads Guilty To Assault And Causing Serious Bodily Injury

COEUR D'ALENE - Marisa Belle Hawk, 28, of Wapato, Washington, pleaded guilty today to assault with a serious bodily injury, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced. Hawk was indicted by a federal grand jury in Coeur d'Alene on Dec. 17, 2013.

According to court documents, Hawk admitted that on Nov. 23, 2013, she used a handgun and shot the victim in the leg. All of these events occurred within the boundaries of the Nez Perce Indian Reservation.

The charge of Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury is punishable by up to 10 years in prison, a maximum fine of $250,000.00, and up to 3 years of supervised release.

Sentencing is set for Aug. 27, 2014, before U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill at the federal courthouse in Coeur d'Alene.

The case was investigated by Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Nez Perce Tribal Police.
