A July 19 transformer fire at Hoover Dam was resolved without injury and without harm to the area's power grid.

Hoover Dam's A5 transformer caught fire at about 10 a.m. July 19 and was extinguished by Reclamation/Hoover Dam's onsite fire brigade about a half hour later, according to a U.S. Bureau of Reclamation Facebook post. No visitors or employees were injured.

"There is no risk to the power grid and power is still being generated from the powerhouse," the Facebook post said. "We are investigating the cause of the fire and will provide additional updates as they are available."

News outlets, including NPR, also quoted Bureau of Reclamation Regional Director Jacklynn Gould reassuring the public the same day that "there is no risk to the power grid."

Hoover Dam remained open for its usual guided tours.

The fire at Hoover Dam "was extinguished before Boulder City Fire Department arrived on scene," the city of Boulder said in a Twitter post. "Bureau of Reclamation/Hoover Dam will be handling any additional questions."
