Tonawanda Woman Sentenced For Fraudulently Obtaining Ssi Benefits

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that Tracy Anderson, 43, of Tonawanda, NY, who was convicted of unlawfully receiving supplemental security income, was sentenced to three years probation by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. The defendant was also ordered to pay $11,726 in restitution.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott S. Allen, Jr., who handled the case, stated that between Dec. 1, 2012 and Feb. 1, 2014, the defendant received Supplemental Security Income benefits on behalf of her disabled son when in fact, the child was not living with her. Anderson received a total of $11,726 to which she was not entitled.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation from the Office of the Inspector General of the Social Security Administration, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Edward J. Ryan.
