Illegal Alien Pleads Guilty to Possession of a Handgun

Gulfport, Miss - Pablo Mendoza-Sanchez pled guilty before Chief U.S. District Judge Louis Guirola, on Sept. 20, 2016, to possession of a firearm by an illegal alien, U. S. Attorney Gregory K. Davis announced today.

Mendoza-Sanchez, 26, a native of Mexico, was discovered with the handgun during a traffic stop by Harrison County Deputies. Fingerprints confirmed that Mendoza-Sanchez had been removed three times from the United States. He will be sentenced on Dec. 14, 2016 and faces a maximum penalty of ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Annette Williams.
