Convicted Felon Sentenced to Serve 134 Months for Illegally Possessing Ammunition

Acting United States Attorney Steve Butler of the Southern District of Alabama announces that Senior United States District Court Judge Callie V.S. Granade sentenced Roy Darwood Ray, to serve a term of imprisonment of 110 months followed by 3 years of supervised release. Ray pled guilty to illegally possessing ammunition in Mobile, Alabama on June 20, 2016 in violation of 18 USC § 922(g)(1). Additionally, the Court ordered the defendant to serve a consecutive term of imprisonment of 24 months for violating the conditions of his supervised release. During the sentencing hearing, the Court made a finding that the defendant’s possession of ammunition was related to two armed robberies. The defendant, who had a lengthy criminal history, entered a guilty plea before the Court on Jan. 19, 2017.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosive (ATF), and the Mobile Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lawrence J. Bullard.
