Bill H.R.8473 titled “To amend the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 to prohibit employers from paying employees in the garment industry by piece rate, to require manufacturers and contractors in the garment industry to register with the Department of Labor, and for other purposes” was referred to the Committee on Education and Labor and in addition to the Committee on Ways and Means for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned by the House of Representatives. The bill is sponsored by Rep. Carolyn Maloney with Andre Carson, Debbie Dingell, Ro Khanna, Jerrold Nadler, Deborah Ross as cosponsors.
