United States Attorney Randolph J. Seiler announced that a White River, South Dakota, man convicted of Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance was sentenced on Sept. 19, 2017, by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange.
Louis Anthony Good Shield, age 28, was sentenced to 18 months in custody, followed by 4 years of supervised release, a fine of $1,000, and a mandatory special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100.
Good Shield was indicted by a federal grand jury on Aug. 16, 2016. He pled guilty on June 27, 2017.
Good Shield admitted that between Jan. 1, 2013, and Sept. 17, 2015, he knowingly and intentionally conspired with others to distribute methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance, in South Dakota. Good Shield assisted other individuals in obtaining methamphetamine and delivering that methamphetamine to others for further distribution in South Dakota. Good Shield’s role in the distribution scheme was to accompany others during the transport of the methamphetamine, and to be “the muscle."
This case was investigated by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney SaraBeth Donovan prosecuted the case.
Good Shield was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
