Buffalo Man Pleads Guilty To Selling Heroin

BUFFALO, N.Y. - U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced today that Jose Ramos Escalera, 30, of Tonawanda, NY, pleaded guilty before Chief U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci, Jr. to possession with intent to distribute heroin. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $2,000,000 fine.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul C. Parisi, who is handling the case, stated that between July 24, 2015, and Sept. 26, 2017, the defendant sold heroin on seven separate occasions to individuals working with the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The plea is the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge James J. Hunt, New York Field Division.

Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 30, 2018 before Judge Geraci.
