CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA - Robert W. Tucker, Jr., of Star City, West Virginia, was sentenced today to 34 months incarceration for a sex offender registration violation, United States Attorney Bill Powell announced.
Tucker, age 43, pled guilty to one count of “Failure to Update Sex Offender Registration" in June 2018. Tucker admitted to traveling from Monongalia County, West Virginia to South Carolina and North Carolina, without updating his registry, as required by law, in August 2016 and September 2017.
This case is prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah E. Wagner prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The United States Marshals Service investigated.
