United States Attorney Ron Parsons announced that a Porcupine, South Dakota, man convicted of Assault on a Federal Officer was sentenced by Jeffrey L. Viken, U.S. District Judge.
Frank Yellow Boy, age 43, was sentenced on June 9, 2020, to 6 months in federal prison, followed by 2 years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Yellow Boy was indicted by a federal grand jury in June 2019. The charge related to Yellow Boy physically resisting and punching an Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety officer after being arrested on March 24, 2019, at Porcupine. The assault resulted in the officer’s glasses being knocked from his face and his nose, and mouth being bloodied.
This case was investigated by the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety. Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather Sazama prosecuted the case.
Yellow Boy was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
