Drug-Using Gang Member Pleads Guilty to Illegally Possessing Firearm

Gulfport, Miss. - Joshual Tyrik Richburg, 21, of Biloxi, Mississippi, pled guilty today before U.S. District U.S. District Judge Sul Ozerden to one count of possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of a controlled substance, announced U.S. Attorney Mike Hurst and FBI Special-Agent-in-Charge Michelle Sutphin.

On Sept. 20, 2019, Joshual Richburg sold a firearm to an individual. During the course of an investigation, it was determined that Richburg had been smoking marijuana every day for several years. Richburg is a known member of a local Biloxi gang that is part of the Gangster Disciples.

Richburg will be sentenced by Judge Ozerden on Nov. 19, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. and faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Erica Rose.
