BUFFALO, N.Y.-U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced today that Shamir Suddith, 33, of Buffalo, NY, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo to distribution of fentanyl and acetyl fentanyl. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeremiah E. Lenihan, who is handling the case, stated that in September 2018, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) developed information that the defendant was a fentanyl drug dealer. Based on this information, HSI conducted two controlled purchases of fentanyl from Suddith on September 12 and Oct. 3, 2018.
The plea is the result of an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Scarpino; the Buffalo Police Department, under the direction of Commissioner Byron Lockwood; and the New York State Police, under the direction of Major James Hall.
Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 22, 2022, before Judge Vilardo. #
