El Salvadoran National Pleads Guilty to Illegal Re-Entry of a Deported Alien Previously Convicted of a Felony

NEW ORLEANS - U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that HECTOR RODRIGUEZ-RODRIGUEZ, age 55, pleaded guilty on Nov. 30, 2021 to reentry of a deported alien previously convicted of a felony, in violation of 8 U.S.C. § 1326(a) and (b)(2).

According to the bill of information, HECTOR RODRIGUEZ-RODRIGUEZ reentered the United States after he was previously deported on Oct. 27, 1992. Furthermore, on or about May 29, 2019, the defendant was convicted of illegal possession of less than two grams of cocaine and aggravated battery in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana.

HECTOR RODRIGUEZ-RODRIGUEZ faces a maximum term of up to imprisonment of twenty (20) years, a maximum fine of up to $250,000, a maximum term of up to supervised release of three (3) years, and a mandatory $100 special assessment fee.

U.S. District Judge Jay C. Zainey has set sentencing for Feb. 2, 2021.

U.S. Attorney Evans praised the work of the United States Department of Homeland Security in investigating this matter. Assistant U. S. Attorney M. Irene González is in charge of the prosecution.
