WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Ranking Member of the House Natural Resources Committee Peter DeFazio (D-OR) issued the following statement in response to natural resource issues included in President Obama’s 2014 State of the Union address:
"Last week, over 100 Democrats joined together to ask the Obama Administration to use its authority to protect and conserve national treasures. I was very pleased to hear the President say he is willing to make critical conservation decisions that this deeply partisan Congress will not. I look forward to working with the administration to protect our iconic landscapes for our kids and grandkids.
"I agree with the President: climate change is a fact. It is the single greatest challenge of our time - and Congress must act now. The best way, the proven way, to reduce carbon pollution is through the regulatory authorities of the Clean Air Act."
