Bishop: OPEC and Russia Applaud the President’s Methane Announcement

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, during a joint news conference with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, President Obama announced plans to develop federal methane regulations on existing domestic energy sources. Chairman Rob Bishop (R-UT) issued the following statement:

“If OPEC and Russia want to succeed in their war against American energy dominance, it’s this agenda that will allow them to do it. Despite huge production gains, methane emissions have steadily dropped through industry innovation-without the President’s job-killing grip. It’s unfortunate that this Administration continues to suffocate the one sector that’s kept the American economy afloat. We should be erecting the international support to defeat ISIL rather than new barriers to energy development that play directly into enemies’ hands."
