Bishop Statement on Puerto Rico Oversight Board and PREPA

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Natural Resources on June 28, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Yesterday, the Puerto Rico Financial Oversight and Management Board rejected the Puerto Rico Electricity Power Authority (PREPA) restructuring support agreement (RSA) between Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselló and PREPA’s creditors. Chairman Rob Bishop issued the following statement:

“Congress provided a path to stability in Puerto Rico. Yesterday, the Board deviated from that plan. The Board's rejection of this agreement, with no clear path forward, poses more questions as to the Island’s economic future and Congress will want answers to those questions."
