WASHINGTON, D.C. - Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, U.S. Rep. Rob Bishop (R-Utah), today issued the following statement on the Department of the Interior’s proposed revision to the rule guiding offshore oil and gas drilling and production known as the Well Control Rule. The rule updates the requirement for equipment and operations for offshore drilling activities.

“Revising the existing rule will bring standards up to speed, and maintain safety protocols for American workers and protection for the environment. As we continue to build on the lessons of Deepwater Horizon, we must update regulations to accurately reflect tremendous leaps in technology. I look forward to working with the Trump administration to continue providing the safest environment for ocean resources and human life."
