Bishop Highlights American Energy First, Critiques Democrats’ Russia-first Agenda

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Natural Resources on Sept. 11, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -

WASHINGTON- Today, Ranking Republican of House Natural Resources Committee Rob Bishop (R-Utah) spoke on the House Floor in opposition to a plethora of liberal legislation aimed at derailing our domestic energy production and strong economy. House Democrats are set to consider radical legislation this week which would stifle development of our resources, ensure our reliance on foreign countries and jeopardize unprecedented economic growth seen in recent years.

“We have three bills before us today. None of them are scientifically grounded, all of them are actually political…taking science and basically throwing it in the trash… [the three bills] by the Democrats as their energy policy will have the net effect of destroying jobs, harming our economy, potentially driving us into an economic tailspin…"

In addition, U.S. Rep. Bishop highlighted the recently introduced American Energy First Act. Introduced alongside House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-Wyo), U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) and U.S. Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.), the legislation aims to put American Energy First and ensure economic growth and domestic energy security for decades to come.

" [This is] an energy package that is for all energy, all of the above, both fossil fuel and alternative, one that actually will grow our economy, create more jobs [and] will give a logical standard of what we should do."
