WASHINGTON, D.C., April 28, 2021 - Today, the House Committee on Natural Resources held its first markup of 2021. Committee Republicans offered more than 25 amendments during the markup, ones that would improve U.S. energy security, prevent global human rights abuses, benefit American workers and more. Committee Democrats voted against all but two of them.
Republican amendments included:
Amendment to H.R. 1884, offered by U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.): instructs the Department of the Interior (DOI) to investigate the effects of U.S. foreign energy imports on human trafficking and forced labor conditions.
Amendment to H.R. 1884, offered by U.S. Rep. Pete Stauber (R-Minn.): conditions implementation of the bill on a determination of how many union jobs and total union wages would be lost due to this act.
Amendment to H.R. 1492, offered by U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.): conditions implementation of the bill on whether U.S. oil and gas imports are sourced from countries that require the same or higher venting and flaring standards than those stipulated in the legislation.
Amendment to H.R. 1492, offered by U.S. Rep. Garret Graves (R-La.): requires DOI to determine whether this bill would negatively impact energy sources or prices for low income communities, minority communities, Native Americans or senior citizens.
Amendment to H.R. 1503, offered by U.S. Rep. Yvette Herrell (R-N.M.): reaffirms states' authority to make regulatory decisions regarding hydraulic fracturing, and prohibits a federal ban on fracking on all lands.
