Neal Statement on House Passage of the Susan Muffley Act of 2022

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on July 27. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC- Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement applauding the House of Representatives’ passage of H.R. 6929, the Susan Muffley Act of 2022:

“Securing the retirements of American workers and giving them peace of mind has been a priority of mine throughout my time in Congress. This legislation restores the earned benefits of over 20,000 retirees who saw their life’s work evaporate due to no fault of their own.

“Today, the House worked as it should, passing a good piece of bipartisan legislation to help workers and their families. My colleagues, Representatives Dan Kildee (D-MI) and Tim Ryan (D-OH), have been unstoppable leaders for the Delphi retirees, and I’m grateful for their steadfast advocacy in bringing this legislation to the floor. It’s now time for the Senate to play their part in making these retirees whole, and quickly send this legislation to President Biden’s desk."
