The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Aug. 4. It is reproduced in full below.

Spokane, Washington - Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement on the passing of Congresswoman Jackie Walorski (R-IN):

“I loved my dear friend Jackie. With everything she did, she led with joy and optimism, and most of all integrity and courage. It was contagious. It’s impossible to imagine not seeing her again. Whenever I needed her, she was there. I know her constituents in Indiana feel the same way because Jackie had a remarkably generous heart and would make any sacrifice in the service of others.

“Brian and I are heartbroken for Jackie’s husband Dean, her family, and everyone who loved her. We are lifting them up in prayer. We pray the Lord’s abundant grace will flow through them and provide comfort and strength. We also offer these prayers and our deepest condolences to the families of Emma Thomson and Zachery Potts. They served the people of Indiana and this country as devoted public servants who embodied Jackie’s mission to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the world."
