Reclamation Releases Final Environmental Assessment for Installation of Non-Native Predatory Fish Escapement Net in Elkhead Reservoir

The following news_release was published by the Bureau of Reclamation on March 2, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Bureau of Reclamation has released a Finding of No Significant Impact and Final Environmental Assessment for the installation of a non-native predatory fish escapement net in Elkhead Reservoir located near Craig, Colorado.

The net will prevent non-native game fish in Elkhead Reservoir from escaping from the reservoir spillway and into the river. Research has shown that the escape of non-native fish from Elkhead Reservoir is diminishing the recovery efforts of the Upper Colorado River Endangered Fish Recovery Program.

The Final Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact are available at http://www.usbr.gov/uc/envdocs/index.html.
