Reclamation Announces Negotiation Session with Klamath Irrigation District on C Flume Extraordinary Operation and Maintenance Contract

The following news_release was published by the Bureau of Reclamation on March 22, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -

The Bureau of Reclamation and Klamath Irrigation District will hold a second negotiation session on a proposed Extraordinary Operation and Maintenance

Contract for the C Flume. KID members voted on March 8, 2016 to enter into this contract with Reclamation to replace the 94-year-old flume. The C Flume is

an elevated 4,200-foot-long section of the C Canal built by Reclamation in 1922. It is designed to carry up to 345 cubic feet per second and irrigates

21,990 acres of land within the Klamath Project. Age-related concrete deterioration coupled with continuing freeze-thaw damage has jeopardized the

integrity of the structure. The contract is needed to provide financing to KID to repair the C Flume. The negotiation session will be held:

Thursday, March 24, 1-3 p.m.

Klamath Basin Area Office

6600 Washburn Way

Klamath Falls, OR 97603

The public is welcome to view the negotiation session and may have the opportunity to provide public comments immediately following the negotiation

session. Participation instructions and copies of the proposed draft contract will be provided at the negotiation session.

For more information about the meeting, contact Laura Williams at 541-880-2581 (TTY 800-877-8339).
