SHIPROCK, N.M. - Media representatives are invited to join U.S. Department of the Interior and Navajo Nation leaders as they sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) intended to identify and evaluate emergency contingency water supplies for Navajo farms in northern New Mexico. U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Interior Michael L. Connor, Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Estevan López and senior Navajo Nation officials will sign the MOU at the Shiprock Chapter House.
This planning effort will identify critical system components and emergency water supplies in the event they are needed. In addition to signing the MOU, Interior and Navajo Nation leaders will discuss crucial water needs in the region.
