Reclamation Announces Seasonal Changes to Park Hours at Stony Gorge Reservoir

The following news_release was published by the Bureau of Reclamation on Oct. 7, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

ELK CREEK, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation has scheduled annual recreation area closures at Stony Gorge Reservoir from Oct. 17, 2016, through March 31, 2017. Recreational areas will reopen April 1, 2017 (weather permitting). These annual closures allow Reclamation to perform necessary maintenance tasks and provide time for natural resource restoration.

• Skippers Point boat launch and the surrounding day use area will remain open year round.

• Pines Day Use site will remain open year round.

• Beginning Oct. 17, 2016, through March 31, 2017, Pines Group Site will close for the season.

Beginning Oct. 17, 2016, through March 31, 2017, gates for the following camp sites will be closed for the season: Grimy Gulch I, II, III, Elk Creek Hill, Hidden Cove, Stony Point, Fig I and II.

The water level at the lake fluctuates frequently, and Reclamation encourages all boaters to use caution while navigating the lake. Some existing and new hazards may still emerge as the lake’s surface elevation gradually drops due to continued drought conditions.

The Stony Gorge Reservoir Ranger Station will remain open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is located at 2551 County Road 304, Elk Creek, CA 95939. For additional information on activities, directions, pet restrictions, or other questions, please call the Stony Gorge Ranger Station at 530-968-5267 or the Willows Offices at 530-934-7066 (TTY 800-877-8339).
