New Melones Lake Tuttletown Boat Ramp Now Open

The following news_release was published by the Bureau of Reclamation on Jan. 18, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

SONORA, Calif.

- The Bureau of Reclamation announces that the Tuttletown boat ramp at New

Melones Lake is now open. Recent heavy rains have increased lake levels,

allowing boats to launch from a lower-level ramp for the first time since

June 2014. Four-wheel drive is recommended when launching due to the

present condition of the native surface road going down to the ramp. All

boat launching fees will apply.

Boat launching opportunities at Glory Hole have enhanced with the

availability of a large, four-lane ramp and additional courtesy docks.

Water levels at the lake fluctuate frequently and Reclamation encourages

boaters to use caution while navigating the lake. Rising lake levels will

be submerging islands and other topographical features making the visual

location of hazards unpredictable.

Boaters are required to maintain speeds of no more than 5 miles per hour

within 200 feet of any island or shoreline. Wearing life jackets while on

the water will help visitors have a safe and enjoyable day on the lake.

Children under 13 years of age must wear a properly fitting life jacket.

For questions or more information about the boat ramp or boating at New

Melones Lake please call 209-536-9094.
