WASHINGTON - The Bureau of Reclamation is seeking applicants for applied science projects within the Desert and Southern Rockies Landscape Conservation Cooperatives. This funding opportunity provides funding for applied science projects, including research, to identify how drought impacts natural or cultural resources, projects to develop information and tools that inform watershed management, and projects to improve access and use of water resources data by resource managers within the boundaries of the two landscape conservation cooperatives.
Eligible applicants include states, tribes, irrigation districts, water districts, universities, nonprofit research institutions, organizations with water or power delivery authority, or nonprofit organizations.
Approximately $800,000 in federal funds will be available under this funding opportunity, approximately 6-10 agreements will be funded this fiscal year. Up to $100,000 will be available per project that must be completed within two years. Recipients must provide at least a 50-percent cost-share of the total project costs.
Landscape Conservation Cooperatives include working with partners across landscapes to develop the science capacity necessary to successfully address 21st century conservation challenges. They are true cooperatives formed and directed by land, water, wildlife and cultural resources managers and interested public and private organizations.
The Desert Landscape Conservation Cooperative encompasses portions of California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas as well as a substantial portion of Northern Mexico. The Southern Rockies Landscape Conservation Cooperative includes portions of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.
