Reclamation Announces Summer 2017 Park Events and Park Ranger Interpretive Programs at Lake Berryessa

NAPA, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation’s Central California Area Office

announces summer 2017 park events and park ranger interpretive programs at

Lake Berryessa in Napa County. All activities will be held rain or shine

and are free of charge. Participants should wear sturdy shoes and weather

appropriate clothing. Water and sunscreen are also recommended. Children

are welcome, but those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Dufer Point Visitor Center Open

Through September 11: Weekends and holidays 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Weekdays

12-3 p.m.

Stop in with your questions or to view the Wild about Wetlands

exhibit on loan through September from the Effie Yeaw Nature Center.

Brochures, maps, trail guides and other educational information are

available free of charge. Contact the park rangers at 707-966-2111 ext. 113

for information about park events, hikes, kayak tours and educational

programs.

Meet a Park Ranger at Monticello Dam!

Saturdays and Sundays 12-2 p.m., May 1 through Labor Day

Monticello Dam Overlook Parking (Highway 128, 9 miles west of Winters)

Ever wonder why Lake Berryessa was created? Or how much water it holds? Or

what was there before the lake? Or where the water goes? Get the answers to

these questions and more when you meet a park ranger at the Monticello Dam

every Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer. Stop by any time between

12 and 2 p.m. to learn fun facts about this essential water resource.

C.A.S.T. For Kids

Saturday, May 6, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Oak Shores Day Use Area

Lake Berryessa employees, in partnership with the C.A.S.T. (Catch a Special

Thrill) for Kids Foundation, will host a C.A.S.T. for Kids fishing event

for disabled and disadvantaged children on May 6. The event will be held

from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lake Berryessa’s Oak Shores Day Use Area. Each

child will receive a fishing pole, tackle box, T-shirt, and spend the

morning fishing with local anglers and volunteers. A free lunch will be

served to participants, parents and volunteers in the afternoon.

Registration is required to participate in this event. Reclamation is also

seeking boaters and anglers who wish to volunteer their time and use of

their boat, as well as volunteers for shoreline support. For more

World Environment Day

Sunday, June 4, Registration starts at 9:30 a.m., Group Clean Up from

10 a.m. - Noon

Meet near Markley Cove Resort, past Monticello Dam

Join Reclamation park rangers and the Lake Berryessa Watershed Partnership

for a fun lakeshore clean up event. Volunteers will help clean up trash and

debris along trails and shorelines at the south end of the lake. This is a

great opportunity to earn volunteer hours while spending the afternoon in a

beautiful outdoor setting! Please wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots and

bring work gloves, a hat and sunscreen. Don’t miss out on the free taco

lunch and be sure to register by May 22 to receive a free World Environment
