SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation, in conjunction with the Central California Irrigation District, has released a joint Environmental Assessment/Initial Study for the Orestimba Creek Groundwater Recharge Project.
The EA/IS details Reclamation’s proposed grant of $500,000 to CCID through grant funds from the Bay-Delta Restoration Program:(CALFED Water Use Efficiency Grants). CCID would use the grant funds to develop a 20-acre recharge facility near Orestimba Creek that would allow the recharge of 500 acre-feet per year to the local groundwater basin. The project is located in western Stanislaus County, approximately three miles west of the Community of Newman.
