Reclamation Seeks Information on Water Infrastructure Alternative Financing and Public-Private Partnerships

The following news_release was published by the Bureau of Reclamation on April 25, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - The Bureau of Reclamation announced the release of a “Request for Information" seeking feedback on potential water resource projects for public-private partnerships (P3). They will also host a Forum to facilitate conversation between public and private entities on alternative financing.

The information contained in the responses to the RFI will help Reclamation steer planning and development efforts for these and other projects and develop cooperative alternative financing arrangements. Through the infusion of private capital and management, P3 can potentially boost efficiency in the provision of public infrastructure and services for Reclamation’s reserved works and those where operations and maintenance are transferred to other operators. The RFI is posted at www.fedbizopps.gov, number R17PS00874.

In conjunction with this RFI, Reclamation will host a Water Infrastructure and Alternative Financing Forum in Denver, Colorado, on May 9. This forum is designed to present a representative portfolio of potential P3 projects that Reclamation has identified. Alternative financing, such as non-federal and private investment in federal projects, is an important tool that Reclamation is exploring to meet our growing infrastructure demands in the most timely and cost-effective manner.

Space is limited, so each entity will be allowed up to two participants. To RSVP to attend the Forum, please use this link: https://goo.gl/forms/hBAJvijD53IuyRFP2. The Forum will also be available for viewing only at www.usbr.gov/live.
