The following news_release was published by the Bureau of Reclamation on Dec. 1, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation released the environmental assessment and finding of no significant impact for the Stockdale East Groundwater Recharge Project. The project will construct a 200-acre groundwater recharge pond, allowing it to save around 8,700 acre-feet of water per year.

Reclamation selected the Rosedale-Rio Bravo Water Storage District to receive a $1 million WaterSMART Water and Energy Efficiency Grant for this project in 2016. It is located 6 miles west of Bakersfield, California. An adjacent 30 acres are slated for access roads, staging areas and a new intake pumping plant expected to save around 6,870 acre-feet of water per year.

Reclamation prepared the Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact detailing possible environmental effects of providing this funding.

The EA and FONSI were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and are available at https://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=30781.
