BILLINGS, Montana -- The Bureau of Reclamation's Tiber Reservoir (Lake Elwell) just southwest of Chester, Montana, experienced high inflows as a result of heavy rain in the region. Meanwhile, releases from Tiber Dam have been reduced to approximately 700 cubic feet per second (cfs) at the direction of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to assist with flood control along the Missouri River main stem, downstream of Fort Peck Dam. The current reservoir elevation is 2.5 feet above the normal full level of 2993 ft, and is expected to peak at approximately 2996 ft by Tuesday, July 10. Inflows into Tiber Reservoir are currently averaging about 1,800 cfs, and are slowly decreasing.
Local residents should be aware that increased water elevations could cause access issues to some Reclamation recreation facilities. Please check with your local county dispatch office or Reclamation office at 406-759-5077.
