FRESNO, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation has released final environmental documents analyzing the proposed issuance of a 25 year land use authorization to the city of Bakersfield for the construction and maintenance of a 6-mile long multi-use path along the Friant-Kern Canal, constructed over three phases.
The project’s 6-mile paved path serves as a means for connecting sidewalks leading to parks, commercial centers and schools. It also interconnects to the Parkway Trail in Bakersfield, which features rest stops with seating, shade and educational signage placed periodically along the trail.
The final Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, and are available at https://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=33821.
