Yuma, Ariz. - The Bureau of Reclamation’s Yuma Area Office announced today that it has closed the Horne Road Bridge near the Fort Yuma Indian Reservation due to the bridge’s poor structural condition.
Following a recent safety inspection of the facility by Reclamation engineers, they believe that the poor condition of the bridge deck poses a public safety hazard.
In response to the safety concerns, Reclamation workers installed barriers and signage on both sides of the bridge during the week of Sept. 17, 2018 to alert the public of the bridge’s closure. The bridge will remain closed until further notice.
The bridge which carries Horne Road over Drain 8B north of Indian Rock Road in the Fort Yuma Reservation Indian Reservation is located approximately 3 miles west of Picacho Road/S24.
Questions about the bridge closure should be directed to Mr. Alexander Belous at (928) 343-8314 or via email at abelous@usbr.gov.
