NAPA, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation announced today Royal Elk Park Management as the selected concessionaire bid for the Putah Canyon Recreation Area business opportunity at Lake Berryessa.
The business opportunity is to operate a campground, boat launch and associated facilities for a 10-year term. Royal Elk Park Management’s bid best met Reclamation and the public’s needs to provide required-and-authorized recreational services and facilities.
Reclamation’s Central California Area Office will initiate discussions with Royal Elk Park Management to have a new concession contract signed prior to Jan. 1, 2021.
Putah Canyon Recreation Area is one of five concession areas at Lake Berryessa. The other four concessions-Markley Cove Resort, Pleasure Cove Marina, Steele Canyon Recreation Area and Spanish Flat Recreation Area-are operated by concession contractors providing a variety of camping, lodging, marina and boat-launch opportunities.
Lake Berryessa is operated by CCAO as part of the Solano Project. Reclamation manages facilities including the visitor center, Capell Cove boat launch ramp, Eticuera Day Use Area hand-launch ramp, and the popular Oak Shores and Smittle Creek Day Use Areas for picnicking, swimming, fishing and hiking.
Lake Berryessa remains closed until further notice as Reclamation continues to work towards rebuilding a safe recreational area after sustaining fire damage from the LNU Lightning Complex Fire.
