HEYBURN, Idaho - The Bureau of Reclamation announces the selection of Michael Hilliard as assistant area manager for the Upper Snake Field Office in Interior Region 9: Columbia Pacific Northwest. Hilliard will oversee the management and operation of Reclamation facilities in eastern Idaho and western Wyoming. The USFO is located in Heyburn, Idaho, and is part of the Snake River Area Office headquartered in Boise.

"Mike brings a wealth of experience as a manager and leader," said Snake River Area Manager Lanie Paquin. "His knowledge of the upper Snake River basin issues, as well as the relationships he has developed with our partners and stakeholders, will be a great asset to the field office," added Paquin.

Prior to his new assignment, Hilliard served as the natural resources manager in the USFO since 2018. During this time, he has managed a variety of water and land resource projects and programs, including the A&B Irrigation District and Minidoka Irrigation District title transfers. Prior to working with USFO, he served as the division manager for the Marias Milk Rivers Division in the Montana Area Office where he managed the St. Mary Canal System and the Milk River Project.

"It is a privilege to serve in this capacity," said Hilliard. "I look forward to continue to work with our partners as we move forward with various projects and important issues in the upper Snake River basin."

Hilliard is an Idaho native and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Idaho State University. He enjoys being in the outdoors and spending time with family. Hilliard began his new role May 3.

The USFO manages six projects, eight dams, and two power plants in eastern Idaho and western Wyoming. The projects provide for the delivery of irrigation water, hydroelectric generation, flood control and recreation opportunities.
